This is what we believe

Our Mission

To lead people to Jesus Christ and into a growing relationship with Him.”

We are a spiritual formation church. We want to challenge, inspire and develop people of all ages and stages of spiritual development to grow in Christ. We seek to grow deeply in our own faith and to assist all on their spiritual journey, sharing that transformational faith with the world around us.

Our Statement Of Faith

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative word of God.
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. With the Son and the Holy Spirit, he made humankind in his own image and relates to us as a loving, holy Father.
4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his atoning death on the cross, in his bodily resurrection from the dead, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal return to earth in power and glory.
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and gifted for effective service in the Kingdom of God.
6. We believe that Christ's gracious offering of himself on the cross is the only grounds for salvation from sin. Salvation comes when an individual turns from sin and trusts fully in the saving work of Jesus Christ.
7. We believe in the resurrection of the dead; they that are saved into heaven and eternal glory, and they that are lost into hell and its everlasting separation from God.
8. We believe that the Christian church is the entire universal body of believers in Jesus Christ. We believe that a local church is a body of believers organized together for the purposes of worship, fellowship, discipleship and witness.
9. We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the sacraments of the church instituted by Christ.

Our Core Values

Prayer - We believe that prayer is central to the building of a Christ-honoring church. Therefore, the ministries and activities of this church will be characterized by a reliance on prayer in their conception, planning, and execution. (Acts 2:42)

Worship – We believe that one of our most important ministry directives is to WORSHIP God. Before we can serve Him well, we must worship Him well. Therefore, we will seek God’s presence and His transcendent sovereignty as individuals and as a church by gathering corporately once a week and periodically on special occasions to worship Him in song, prayer and reading His word. We will challenge all to continue the act of worship throughout the week in their homes and workplaces. (Acts 2:47, John 4:23-24, Col. 3:17)

Teaching - We believe that biblical teaching is a primary catalyst God uses for transformation in individual’s lives and in the church. Therefore, we want to provide high quality biblical teaching in our worship services, ministries, and small groups. Our teaching team is dedicated to presenting expository messages with strong life application and a sound scriptural base, with the ultimate goal of transformed lives. (Acts 2:42, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Spiritual Formation - We believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and his cause is normal for every believer. Therefore, we will encourage each follower of Christ (child, teen, and adult) to grow beyond nominal commitment toward high levels of devotion, where our lives are ordered around our desire to honor and serve Christ. (Luke 9:23-25)

Small Groups – We believe that spiritual formation is best achieved when we gather together “at close range” in a loving, authentic community. Therefore, we are committed to the continual development of small groups and will encourage each person to be a part of one. (Acts 2:42, Prov. 27:17)

Making Disciples - We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church. Therefore we will purposefully reach out to those around us through efforts like Crosswinds Downtown, Celebrate Recovery, Global Missions, our homes and workplaces, Crosswinds 5K race and others. We will seek to make our weekend services welcoming and accessible to both believers and nonbelievers, and we will encourage everyone in our church to be investing in, interceding for, and inviting the lost. (Acts 2:47)

Children and Youth - We believe in passing our faith in Christ on to the next generation. Therefore, we will make children’s ministries, youth ministry, young adult ministry, and ministry to families an ongoing and non-negotiable priority. We will do everything possible to capture the affections of the next generation of Christians and lead them into a growing relationship with Christ. (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4)

Relevance - We believe that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure. Therefore, we are willing to continually evaluate and, if necessary, change our forms of worship and ministry in order to best serve our generation and culture. We are more concerned with effectiveness in ministry than adherence to tradition. (I Cor. 9:19-23, Luke 5:33-39)

Excellence - We believe that excellence in all things honors God, inspires people, and advances His work. Therefore, in all our ministries and activities, we will seek to maintain a high standard of excellence to the glory of God. We will give God our best. (Col. 3:23, 2 Cor. 8:7, 1 Cor. 10:31)

Sustainability – We believe that a culture of balance is key to the longevity of our volunteers, ministry leaders and staff. Therefore we will strive to maintain a healthy, sustainable pace with regard to our ministries, events, and commitments.

Spiritual Gifts - We believe that the church is a body that functions optimally when each member of the body is active in ministry according to his/her giftedness. (Eph. 4:7-13,16) Therefore, we will encourage all believers to discover, develop, and deploy their spiritual gifts in ministry.

Godly Leadership - We believe in godly servant-leadership that is exercised with the highest possible levels of accountability and integrity. Therefore, those in leadership will be men and women of Christ-like character who are sensitive to the Spirit, accountable to others, and open to the correction, evaluation, and wisdom of the body of Christ. (Matt. 20:25-28; I Timothy 3)

Diversity – We believe that in this Christian community there is a place for everyone. We value each member of the Crosswinds family and celebrate our social, cultural, generational, professional and economic diversity.

Galatians 3:27-29 - 27 And all who have been united with Christ in baptism have put on Christ, like putting on new clothes. 28 There is no longer Jew or Gentile, slave or free, male and female. For you are all one in Christ Jesus. 29 And now that you belong to Christ, you are the true children of Abraham. You are his heirs, and God’s promise to Abraham belongs to you.

1 Corinthians 12:22-27 - 22 In fact, some parts of the body that seem weakest and least important are actually the most necessary. 23 And the parts we regard as less honorable are those we clothe with the greatest care. So we carefully protect those parts that should not be seen, 24 while the more honorable parts do not require this special care. So God has put the body together such that extra honor and care are given to those parts that have less dignity. 25 This makes for harmony among the members, so that all the members care for each other. 26 If one part suffers, all the parts suffer with it, and if one part is honored, all the parts are glad. 27 All of you together are Christ’s body, and each of you is a part of it.
