Our Beliefs : About Us

This is what we believe

Our Mission

“At Crosswinds we are a community of people loving God, serving others and leading all into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ.”

Loving God

“Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your mind.' This is the first
and greatest commandment.” Matthew 22:37-38

  • 1. Loving God with our heart, soul, mind and strength
    2. Living a LIFE of worship that extends beyond one hour on Saturday or Sunday
    3. Expressing and demonstrating our love for God by obeying His commands with every thought, word
    and deed

Serving Others

“…And the second is like it: 'Love your neighbor as yourself.” Matthew 22:37-39

"A new command I give you: Love one another. As I have loved you, so you must love one another. By
this all men will know that you are my disciples, if you love one another." John 12:34-35

1. Individually and corporately investing in others intentionally, appropriately, and effectively
2. Responding to injustice, poverty, hunger, oppression and need compassionately and purposefully
3. Serving and caring for those closest to us
4.
Reaching beyond the walls of Crosswinds into our neighborhoods, communities and our world

Leading all into a growing relationship with Jesus Christ

“…until we all reach unity in the faith and in the knowledge of the Son of God and become mature, attaining
to the while measure of the fullness of Christ.” Eph 4:13

1. Actively pursuing a personal, vital, growing relationship with God
2.Challenging ALL to cultivate a lifestyle that embraces the spiritual disciplines and provides
a healthy environment for vigorous spiritual growth
3. Expecting and experiencing measurable growth – spiritually, relationally, emotionally, mentally"
and physically
4. Seeing lasting life change – a genuine reshaping of one’s character, personality and behavior to
reflect the image of Christ

Our Statement of Faith

1. We believe the Bible to be the inspired, infallible and authoritative word of God.
2. We believe that there is one God, eternally existent in three Persons: Father, Son and Holy Spirit.
3. We believe the Father is the Creator and Sustainer of all things. With the Son and the Holy Spirit,
he made humankind in his own image and relates to us as a loving, holy Father.
4. We believe in the deity of our Lord Jesus Christ, in his virgin birth, in his sinless life, in his miracles, in his atoning death on the cross, in his bodily resurrection from the dead, in his ascension to the right hand of the Father, and in his personal return to earth in power and glory.
5. We believe in the present ministry of the Holy Spirit by whose indwelling the Christian is enabled to live a godly life and gifted for effective service in the Kingdom of God.
6. We believe that Christ's gracious offering of himself on the cross is the only grounds for salvation from sin. Salvation comes when an individual turns from sin and trusts fully in the saving work of Jesus Christ.
7. We believe in the resurrection of the dead; they that are saved into heaven and eternal glory, and they that are lost into hell and its everlasting separation from God.
8. We believe that the Christian church is the entire universal body of believers in Jesus Christ. We believe that a local church is a body of believers organized together for the purposes of worship, fellowship, discipleship and witness.
9. We believe that water baptism and the Lord's Supper are the sacraments of the church instituted by Christ.

Our Core Values

We believe that the Christian life is intended to be lived out in the context of loving, authentic community.  (Acts 2:42, Prov. 27:17)

Therefore, we are committed to the continual development of small groups and will encourage each person to be a member of a small group.  All ministry will be done in teams that will foster a sense of community among those who are serving.

We believe that lost people matter to God, and therefore, ought to matter to the church.
(Acts 2:47)

Therefore, we will invest significant portions of our time, energy, and resources in reaching those who don’t know Christ.  Our weekend services will be accessible to both believers and non believers, and we will encourage everyone in our church to be investing in, interceding for, and inviting the lost.

We believe that prayer is central to the building of a Christ-honoring church.  (Acts 2:42)

Therefore, the ministries and activities of this church will be characterized by a reliance on prayer in their conception, planning, and execution.

We believe that biblical teaching is a primary catalyst God uses for transformation in individual’s lives and in the church.   (Acts 2:42, 2 Timothy 3:16-17)

Therefore, we are committed to providing high quality biblical teaching in our worship services, ministries, and small groups.

We believe that our primary response to the grace and love of God is worship.  (Acts 2:47, John 4:23-24, Col. 3:17)

Therefore, we will gather regularly for corporate worship and will encourage each person to live all of life as an act of worship to God.

We believe that the pursuit of full devotion to Christ and his cause is normal for every believer.  (Luke 9:23-25)

Therefore, we will encourage each follower of Christ (child, teen, and adult) to grow beyond nominal commitment toward high levels of devotion, where our lives are ordered around our desire to honor and serve Christ.

We believe that the church is a body that functions optimally when each member of the body is active in ministry according to his/her giftedness. (Eph. 4:7-13,16)

Therefore, we will encourage all believers to discover, develop, and deploy their spiritual gifts in ministry.

We believe that the church should be culturally relevant while remaining doctrinally pure.
(I Cor. 9:19-23, Luke 5:33-39)

Therefore, we are willing to continually evaluate and, if necessary, change our forms of worship and ministry in order to best serve our generation and culture. We are more concerned with effectiveness in ministry than adherence to tradition.

We believe that excellence in all things honors God, inspires people, and advances His work.   (Col. 3:23, 2 Cor. 8:7, 1 Cor. 10:31))

Therefore, in all our ministries and activities, we will seek to maintain a high standard of excellence to the glory of God.  We will give God our best.

We believe in godly servant-leadership that is exercised with the highest possible levels of accountability and integrity.  (Matt. 20:25-28; I Timothy 3)

Therefore, those in leadership will be men and women of Christ-like character who are sensitive to the Spirit, accountable to others, and open to the correction, evaluation, and wisdom of the body of Christ.

We believe in passing our faith in Christ on to the next generation. (Deut. 6:7; Eph. 6:4)

Therefore, we will make children’s ministries, youth ministry, young adult ministry, and ministry to families an ongoing and non-negotiable priority.
